Health Surveillance
Apex Occupational Health will advise employers on there duties under current legislation this includes:-
- New Noise at Work regulation 2006. This includes the baseline at the start of employment with
subsequent regular hearing tests.
- Manual Handling regulations 1992 - These Regulations require that an employee is physically
suitable to carry out manual handling tasks.
- Control of Vibration at Work regulations 2005. Health surveillance should be offered to
employees who are regularly exposed to hand arm vibration.
- The Work at Height regulations 2005. Workers who work at heights will require an assessment of their
neurological and musculoskeletal systems.
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) 2002. Employers are required to undertake a
suitable and sufficient risk assessment on all hazardous materials for example chemicals, dusts, gases,
this will identify the need for lung function testing, and or skin surveillance.
- Food Handlers Health assessment - employees working with food, whether it be on a factory production
line or serving food in a small business to ensure compliance with the food Safety Regulations
( General Food Hygiene).
